How far the Yukon from the ancient love
Encountered in a Germanic café
Instead of the raven a velvet dove
And romantic is drunk, day after day
–
Far from Yukon, the marbl’d Taj Mahal
Backdrop for princesses that contemplate
To visit such magic, travel we shall
And welcome the most adventurous date
–
Yet all those places with potions for sale
Without a moment’s thought I’m sure to trade
This unassuming corner of the globe
Is where the for-ever-more song is made
–
Some fly to find love, some fly to get’ way
Yet the Yukon lures our bless’d souls to stay
Pam van Kampen
