Haines Junction may never be the same again following the Beatles tribute shows being planned by Junction Arts and Music (JAM). JAM is hosting Britain’s Finest, a Beatles tribute band, for two rousing concerts in Haines Junction on Jan. 22 and 23, at St. Elias Convention Centre.

Britain’s Finest is hailed as one of the most authentic, full-stage experiences, delivering a non-scripted, high-energy show capturing the spontaneity, charm, and wit of The Beatles. They offer remarkable note-for-note live renditions of Beatles’ classics, such as “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “Twist and Shout,” “She Loves You,” “Hey Jude,” and others.

Based in Hollywood, California, the cast has rapidly gained both national and international acclaim with their hauntingly accurate re-creation of all the eras in The Beatles’ history. Britain’s Finest has completed tours across United States and abroad, recently in the Philippines.

Last summer, the band pressed a 45 single and in November 2015 they launched a podcast you can subscribe to. Bringing a commemoration closer to home, you may have noticed Yukon Brewing Company’s new label, “Ale You Need is Love.” This ale and the company’s other products will be available for purchase at the concerts in Haines Junction.

Britain’s Finest brings enthusiasm and energy to the stage and entertain audiences with their uncanny resemblance to “the lads” and their off-the-cuff humour and cheeky banter between their songs.

Dianne Oppen, long-time Yukoner and Beatles fan, says, “Britain’s Finest are so much fun, engaging, and unbelievably authentic. If I had turned my head when I was listening to them, I wouldn’t know they weren’t The Beatles.”

Oppen attended their show at the Lawrence Welk Resort in San Diego three years ago. After the show, she spoke to the lads about coming to the Yukon – and they liked the idea.

“So JAM followed up on it,” Oppen says. “Now they’re coming so we can all relive the magic.”

Another delightful aspect of the concert evenings in Haines Junction is the Abbey Road Food Venues opening at 6:30 p.m. There you can purchase savouries and sweets featuring Grace’s Asian Food and 14-Acre Farm’s bison or Arctic char on a bun. Other snacks will be available at the bar during the show.

You can experience all the hysteria, all the personality and all the music of Britain’s Finest at St. Elias Convention Centre in Haines Junction at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 and Saturday, Jan. 23. Dress in Beatles’ era style and be eligible for door prizes from the band’s bag of swag or local gift certificates.

Concert tickets are available at Little Green Apple Grocery in Haines Junction, or at Well-Read Books and Triple J’s Music in Whitehorse. If not sold out, tickets will also be available at the door.
