The holiday season might be the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be the busiest. So take a break from the hustle and bustle, throw a log on the fire, make some hot cocoa and tune in for APTN’s special December programming.

Starting on Wednesday, December 22 at 7:00 pm PT (APTN North), you can tune in for the premiere of Sparkle. This is a cultural holiday music special featuring Métis actor, singer/songwriter and screenwriter Andrea Menard (Moccasin Flats, Rabbit Fall, The Velvet Devil).

Sparkle takes an intimate, behind-the-scenes look into Menard’s daily life. It’s a visually and acoustically stunning showcase, and it will have audiences loving Andrea all the more as they get to know the person as well as the performer.

Christmas Eve is a time to relax. With everything ready for the big day, why not enjoy some APTN pilots?

Sitting down with Tales of an Urban Indian (6:00pm PT), you can follow the comedic attempts of a First Nations actor who is tired of playing stereotypes and is ready to show the world what being Aboriginal is all about.

After that, don’t miss the fan favourite, Mohawk Girls (6:30 pm PT) which follows four young women trying to find love and figure out who they are. It’sSex and the City – Mohawk style!

APTN marks Christmas Day with an encore presentation of the 2010 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards (APCMA’s) at 5:00 pm PT.

Hosted by Lorne Cardinal, this incredible celebration of Aboriginal music features performances from some of today’s best artists including Asani, Jason Burnstick, Inez, Kinnie Starr, Ray St. Germain, Shane Yellowbird and more.

Later, family programming is at its best as we bring you the APTN holiday classic Christmas in the Clouds (7:00 pm PT).

This delightful romantic comedy, set high in the Rockies at a Utah ski resort, stars Graham Greene, Wes Studi and Sam Vlahos. It’s a tale of mistaken identities, lost mice and a blizzard that ends with a good dose of Christmas cheer.

Holiday programming continues on Sunday, December 26 with an encore presentation of Aboriginal Day Live 2010 (1:00 pm PT) featuring performances from some of the most famous names in Aboriginal entertainment. You won’t want to miss out on Don Amero, Jana Mashonee, Digging Roots, Plex, Kinnie Starr, DJ Madeskimo, Inez, Chantal Kreviazuk and more.

Continuing with the music theme, on December 26 you can catch the premiere of APTN’s 2010 First Tracks in the late afternoon.

This year the featured musicians are Derek Miller, Plex, Laydee Lyrix, Kristi Lane Sinclair, Jerry Sereda and Shy-Anne Hovorka. Tune in to see what they’ve created as their videos are broadcast for the very first time at 5:30 pm PT.
