It’s that time of year again — when the sun shines

longer, the snow seems fresher and Simapalooza is about to rock Mount Sima. Every spring, the Soulstice Music Society partners with the Great Northern Ski Society to bring you a fusion of music and snowboarding madness, highlighting the biggest talents in both song and snow.

So many ideas, so many genres, what’s a society to do? Well, the Soulstice Music Society is stopping at nothing to bring the patrons of Mount Sima the best and the brightest of local bands, DJs and hip hop artists.

The tentative music line-up for Simapalooza 2005 includes a medley of our own United DJs of Yukon, including DJKJ, DJ Steve-e-Wunda, DJ Synapse, DJ Geo, DJ House Arrest, DJ Addie, and Atrocity. In addition, powerhouse performances are expected by Yukon heavy hitters Nemesis (Eric Ireland, Mike Jones, Yves Paradis, Etienne Gerrard), Dec and the A’s (Declan O’Donovan, Adriane Bergman) and a special musical performance by Rick Sward (and friends).

None of our entertainment would have effect without the very generous sponsorship of Triple J’s Music Café, Unitech Professional Audio and Lighting, Northern Hempisphere, the Capital Hotel, Sandors, Terra Firma, the Zoo Tanning and Apparel, CKRW, Yukon Brewing Company and many other individuals. The support of these businesses enables us to hand out prizes to our audience throughout the day. And if that isn’t enough, the Capital Hotel is willing to offer two-for-one drink specials, for anyone who presents a Mount Sima lift pass at time of purchase.

Simapalooza 2005 is about more than just snowboarding, skiing, schmoozing with friends in the beer gardens, or listening to the sweet sounds from the SMS, it’s also about supporting our local hill and cultivating an environment to stand the test of the Canada Games in 2007.

This is our official invitation to every Yukoner to join us at Mount Sima on Saturday, April 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The hill closes at 4 p.m., but the entertainment and beer gardens will run until 6 p.m.

For more information on how to get involved, visit www.jjmusic cafe.ca, or call Jordi at 4567-JJJ.

Stay tuned for more spring events brought to you by the Soulstice Music Society.
