In this two-hour workshop, you will learn how to use a domestic sewing machine, including threading the machine and sewing zipper. You’ll learn how to turn an old bicycle inner tube into a pencil case and give it a new life!

No sewing experience is needed. All supplies will be provided to create one pencil case per participant.

About the instructor: Shams enjoys creating with all aspects of the Makespace and empowering others to do the same. Her workshops have included 3D printing, upcycled clothing, resin carpentry, metalworking, and intro to circuits. In the summer, Shams works as an outdoor guide with Outward Bound, where she finds joy in seeing youth and adults alike surprising themselves with what they can do.
