Beringia Centre Science Talks – Paleogenomics: Using Ancient DNA to Reconstruct the Ice Age

The Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre hosts online science talks. Anyone can join in and listen. So come, learn, and explore! All talks are hosted on our Facebook page.
In our third season, this year’s lineup is filled with speakers from all across the world, covering a variety of topics!
An elite group of international scientists will come together to present on paleogenomics. In their presentation – “Paleogenomics: Using ancient DNA from fossils to reconstruct the ice age”, they will discuss recent advances in sequencing technology and how they can use DNA to further the understanding of changing environments in the past and present. There will also be a discussion on the challenges of obtaining DNA from ancient bones, soil cores, and museum specimens, as well as how they utilize this information to reconstruct past environments and to understand ancient evolution.
