CoyWolf Reading

CoyWolf Reading

I (Colin Wolf) am doing another reading of my WIP CoyWolf. It is closer to a completed draft since the last reading in the summer. I will recording this reading in support of pitches for the national leg of the tour, and to show my local Yukon presenting partners where the show is at (and also cause I work on my feet when it comes to creating)
My sister Caleigh Crow is coming into to town to help me. Sacha Crow will be around too, maybe he will play us a tune.
Tyra Ashauntie Gill and 1 TBD Yukon based artist will be reading with me.
Tickets are by donation – but all funds will go towards the production and tour. Send me an email to book your spot: [email protected]
If the 1pm reading fills up we will schedule a evening one later one.
Thumbs Up Good Work Theatre is the arts collective I founded with my sister in the old days. Since then we have welcomed Sara German, Sacha Crow, and Sydney Wolf to this tight knit kin group. We operate our individual projects under this name to create some continuity – but Thumbs Up does not receive operational funding, all our activities are funded through project grants and negotiated partnerships. CoyWolf is not supported in any financial capacity by Gwaandak Theatre (where I am EAD – this is a fully separate project from Gwaandak)
CoyWolf sits in his den, scrounges for work, and scrounges for food. He keeps to himself, writing and delivering sacred messages and stories. In this world CoyWolfs, and all the four legge ds have always spoke to the humans, although many no longer see any reason to. The humans live in cities mostly – bustling expanses transmuted from stone, ore, and wood. Like in the stories youve heard before, the cities need more – and this time it is the CoyWolf den, colloquially known as ShotGun Alley, that is in their path. The cities are expanding to feed its “needs”, the forests are full of mouths but laking sustenance, and our CoyWolf is busy writing away in his den. This is a story about governance, power, and doing your best.
This development has been variously funded and supported by the Yukon Government, Nakai Theatre, Arts Council Wood Buffalo, Native Earth Performing Arts, Jenni House Residency, Canada Council for the Arts, Banff Center for the Arts Playwrights Lab, and the Canada Council for the Arts.
Thank you to everyone who has helped along this journey so far – and in particular to my mother Karen and father Mac – because no one does anything alone. See less
