Level 1 Restorative Practices Virtual Training

Level 1 Restorative Practices Virtual Training

Level I: Introduction to Restorative Practices
Tuition: $400 CDN $325 USD (sliding scale available)

In this highly interactive, two-day workshop, you will be introduced to proactive Restorative Practices and learn how to implement them immediately into your interactions at work, at home and in your community.
We will cover:
WHAT are Restorative Practices, including: some history and exploration of the philosophical underpinnings.
WHY Restorative Practices are effective and what interacting through a restorative lens can bring to your family, work or organisation.
HOW to use and apply proactive Restorative Practices (i.e., restorative language, restorative questions, impromptu conversations and Circles) to create connection, increase trust, have difficult conversations and strengthen relationships in your family, classroom, workplace or organisation.
WHY RESTORATIVE PRACTICES?
Proactive restorative practices invite equity in sharing of voice and help create healthy and positive relationships and organisations. This makes it easier to respond effectively to wrongdoing and restore order when harm is done. Restorative practices allow those who have been impacted by harm to have a say in how the harm is repaired. Those responsible then get a chance to show up and repair the harm they have caused. Restorative practices prioritise accountability over punishment and connection over separation.
LEARNING FORMAT:
This course will be taught on Zoom through a trauma-informed lens. You must be able to join on a computer with camera and microphone on. The focus will be on learning through doing.
Your instructors is Helen Anne Girouard who has curated this training through what she has practised and learned from her Yukon Indigenous and Settler teachers and elders. She is currently completing a Graduate Diploma with the IIRP. Together they have been leading restorative processes for over 15 years.
YTA members may apply for local PD.
