Lost & Found – Pandemic Stories of Discovery told by Kids in Canada
IMPROVING The Yukon’s KIDS’ LITERACY FOLLOWING PANDEMIC-RELATED LEARNING LOSS
Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation’s Lost & Found project helps kids & families reconnect with their community.
The Lost and Found project, a new pan-Canadian literacy campaign, is helping the Yukon’s kids improve literacy and story-making skills, offsetting the impacts of COVID-19 lockdowns on kids. The program, developed by the Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation (CCLF), and a diverse coalition of mental health and children-serving organizations, offers fully bilingual workshops for kids aged 0-12 and their families.
Delivered by BGC Yukon, Lost & Found was developed to strengthen literacy skills following pandemic-related disruptions to in-class learning. The workshops have already helped many stories, in their own words, find their sense of self, and reconnect with the surrounding community from which they were isolated throughout the pandemic.
