More about Katie:
Katie McPherson is a Yukonstruct member and a Resilience and Foresight Practitioner. She is passionate about engaging diverse perspectives to understand and address complex issues. Through firsthand experience responding to local and global emergencies, she learned that the consequences of disasters are rarely unpredictable nor unpreventable, and that there are many parallels between planning for disasters and planning for an uncertain and disruptive future. She believes that effective resilience and adaptation strategies must be holistic in nature, including deep awareness of the intersections and implications of social, cultural, environmental, technological, economic and political systems, structures and values. In her former role as Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Vancouver her desire to find a better way to promote empathy and collaborative action to achieve transformative futures, led her to the field of Strategic Foresight – a practice that blew her mind and changed her life – providing access to tools and methods to conceive of and drive radical change across systems and scales. She hopes it will do the same for you.
