One Starry Night
One Starry Night has been hosted in Whitehorse since 2013. One Starry Night 2022 is being hosted by the Christian community of Whitehorse. Christians across Whitehorse are coming together to create an event for the city. We welcome all volunteers to help show Whitehorse that Christmas began when our Saviour was born in Bethlehem 2022 years ago.
The event is a live nativity scene portraying the night in Bethlehem when Christ was born. It’s an immersive and interactive experience of Bethlehem. The gym at Christ the King elementary school will be transformed into a first century town allowing attendees to step back in time to experience the sights, tastes, and sounds of life at the time of Christ’s birth.
Attendees of all ages arrive and receive a money bag with coins to make purchases. They walk through the marketplace interacting with vendors and making purchases. There are snacks to be eaten, crafts to be made, and wares to be perused. King Herod will be taking his census, angels, roman soldiers, and tax collectors make appearances, and, in a quiet stable, a new baby sleeping. Guests move through the event as slowly or quickly as they desire but guests generally spend around 30 minutes visiting Bethlehem.
One Starry Night 2022 runs at Christ the King elementary school:
- Saturday December 17th from 2:00pm – 7:00pm
- Sunday December 18th from 5:00pm – 7:00pm
- Monday December 19th from 2:00pm – 5:00pm
During these times visitors attend the free immersive experience whenever it is convenient. The event is drop in; no tickets, reservations, or advance noted needed.
