Wonderhorse Emerging Arts & Music Festival 2022

Wonderhorse is an Emerging Arts & Music Festival with events in Whitehorse, Carcross, and Dawson City on the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation, the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, the Carcross/Tagish First Nation, and the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation.

The multi-venue, all-ages festival will showcase a breadth of music, visual arts, video performances, workshops, and interdisciplinary arts from across the Yukon and from out of the territory. 

The festival is being put on by The Society of Something Shows, who have been organizing and presenting community-focused arts events in the Yukon since 2017.

 

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 1 – DAWSON
HAVIAH MIGHTY 8-10PM at the KIAC ballroom

Ticketed, indoors, all ages. Haviah Mighty performs a special evening concert at Dënäkär Zho, co-presented with Klondike Institute of Arts and Culture.

 
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 2 – WHITEHORSE
WONDERCRAWL 8:30PM-12AM along the Waterfront

Free, outdoors, accessible. Our annual arts crawl along the Whitehorse waterfront featuring a range of visual art, film, music, performances, and wacky installations.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS 6:30-8:30PM at the Elks Lodge

Free, indoors, accessible. Co-presented with BYTE.

HAVIAH MIGHTY 10:30PM-12AM at the Elks Lodge

Ticketed, indoors, all ages, accessible. Haviah Mighty performs a special late night set with opener Princess Melia, co-presented with Yukon Arts Centre.

 
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 3 – WHITEHORSE
POP-UP SHOWS AND WORKSHOPS 11AM-5PM across downtown

Mostly free and outdoors (more info to come). Will include a mural revealing event at the newly finished wall mural at Road Dogs Music, created by artist Asia Hyde.

EVENING CONCERTS 6PM-12:30AM across downtown

Ticketed, indoors, all ages, accessibility varying (more info to come). Your Saturday Day Pass will allow you to come and go as you please from four downtown venues for a wide selection of music and performances well into the night.
SKATE COMPETITION AND MUSIC 12-5PM at the Skate Park & Commons

Free, outdoors, accessibility info to come. A skateboarding competition featuring prizes, live music and DJs, and food trucks.

 
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 4 – CARCROSS
EVENING CONCERT 7-11PM at the Carcross/Tagish Learning Centre

Free, indoors, all ages, accessible. Co-presented with the Carcross/Tagish First Nation.

 
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 5 – WHITEHORSE
END OF FESTIVAL BBQ 12-4PM at Rotary Peace Park

A Labour Day end-of-festival outdoor barbecue for our team, artists, and volunteers.
