Yukon Theatre for Young People – Beauty and the Beast Auditions

All young people ages 12-18 are welcome to participate in this production.  Those wishing to join the ensemble will need to register for and attend a mandatory audition.

They should be prepared to participate in singing and dancing activities that will be taught to them at this audition.  No preparation is required for this event.

Note:  All young people ages 12-18 who audition, and who are able to sign our Code of Conduct and a Letter of Commitment will be part of this production.

SOLO AND LEAD ROLES

All young people ages 12-18 are invited to book an audition time if they are interested in performing in any of the following roles for YTYP’s June 2023 production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast:

• Belle
• Beast
• Gaston
• LeFou
• Mrs. Potts
• Lumiere
• Cogsworth
• Babette
• Madame de la Grande Bouche
• Monsier D’Arque
• Chip*

You will be ask to come to your selected audition time prepared to perform the following:

1. Two minutes of a song of your choosing that is not from Beauty and the Beast which you feel showcases your ability; and

2. A thirty-second selected extract for up to two characters that you wish to audition for. This extract will be provided to you after you set up your audition time.

NOTE:

You will be expected to provide backing tracks for the song that you are presenting or to sing acapella. A speaker will be available for you to use for your accompaniment. There will be no live accompaniment.

You are expected to have your audition pieces memorized.

You will be asked to complete a pre-audition questionnaire prior to the audition which will require you to outline your performance experience and level of commitment to this production. This will need to be brought with you to your selected rehearsal time.

*Young people who will be 10 years old by our performance dates (June 23-26, 2023) may book an audition for the role Chip provided they can demonstrate either: Attendance at a YTYP workshop, previous participation in a YTYP production, or significant public performance experience (with references where applicable).

All those who wish to audition for a solo role (as outlined above) will also be required to attend the ensemble audition scheduled for January 15, 2023 from 1PM-5PM at Elijah Smith Secondary School.
