Ubiquitous - Technology and the Human Experience By Leslie Leong
Yukon Arts Centre 300 College Drive, Whitehorse, Yukon Y1A 5X9
Leslie Leong is a Yukon visual artist focused on recycling and sustainability.
This body of work ponders the ubiquitous nature of technology. It has seeped into every aspect of our society/lives, even if we choose not to partake. It is omnipresent. Our zealous adoption of technology is like addictive behaviour.
In our current state of society, “more, better, faster” is the motto. In response to the over consumption of stuff in our human society, the work is created from recycled, reclaimed materials except some screws, glue and gold leaf, where used.
Leong has held solo exhibits throughout the North since 1994. She has work in various private collections in Canada, US, Australia and the UK, including HRH Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge’s collections. Her work can also be seen in permanent collections in Yellowknife, Kitchener, Ont., and Fort Smith, NWT.
Everyone is welcome.
