If We Could See

If we could see from sea to sea to sea,

Oh, how wonderful it would be…

From snow-capped mountains in the west

To sled dogs running in the Quest.

From Folk on the Rocks aux Territoires Nord-ouest

To the Dawson City Music Fest

If we could see from sea to sea to sea,

Oh, what delicacies there would be…

Lobster suppers in the East.

A bowhead harvest and Inuit feast.

Perogies, poutine and rappie pie.

Beavertails, bannock, a scallop and clam deep fry.

If we could see from sea to sea to sea,

Oh, what people there would be…

Refugees attending their first day of school.

Excited tourists wading in a hot springs pool.

Carnaval revellers swaggering down Quebec City’s streets.

Politicians shaking hands at meet and greets.

If we could see from sea to sea to sea,

Oh, such magic there would be…

The northern lights dancing a jig through the night.

The prairie summer sunset, in all of Its might.

The changing fall colours; a bountiful sight.

A Newfoundland iceberg’s shimmering blue light.

If we could see from sea to sea to sea,

Such proud Canadians that’s what we would be…
