Service Officer Meeting

Service Officer Meeting

An invite to all Veterans, Police and First responders for the service hour at the Legion 1900 until 2100hrs, bar may or may not be open. Upcoming meetings.

As the Service officer I have been working on these things over the last few months.
Assisting Veterans with dealing with VAC claims and applications.
Arranged a meeting room in the Legion basement Mondays and Tuesdays for confidential video calls and internet access.
Acquiring a computer for confidential video calls and internet access.
Utilizing the Poppy Fund to aid in some unforeseen financial requirements for Veterans.
Coordinating with some of the homelessness organizations to assess the requirements in the Yukon. (Veteran coordinator needed)
Contacted Guitars for Vets, Making excellent progress. Guitars and lessons are provided. (Veteran coordinator needed)

Continuing to set up Post Traumatic Growth Association free social events. Next events, Glass blowing and Brunch at Lumel Studio May 20th at 1130. Hootalinqua Fire Protection Society Yard and Craft Sale BBQ May 27th at 1200.
Operation VetBuild Program, this is a model building program that I am looking into. (Veteran coordinator needed)
We have every 2nd and 4th Monday each month set aside for Veteran discussions, in the bar or downstairs if the bar is busy. The direction that I want to go with this is we create a hub of informed Veterans that have used the services or have done the research to access the services efficiently when required. Thus; Veterans helping Veterans.

Please pass this information to any Veteran, Police or First Responder you may know. They do not have to be Legion members as we support all. The Whitehorse Legion is just a conduit for information and these gatherings are a place for all to meet face to face.
