August Leads to a Great September

It may be the dog days of summer, but here at APTN, August is one of the busiest months of the year.

It’s during this time that we’re in the final stages of preparing a whole new season of programming for our viewers across the country – and I am pleased to tell you that APTN’s fall 2010 lineup is shaping up to be one of our best.

APTN’s fall season normally begins in September and rolls out over a period of months throughout the winter.

Many of our viewers may not realize that APTN actually schedules and airs three distinct broadcast feeds and an HD channel. That’s a lot of shows. And we try to cater the most relevant and desirable programming to each distinct region of the country in the east, west and north.

It takes a lot of research and collaboration, but in the end, our viewers get to see the programs that matter most to them.

So what can you look forward to seeing on APTN this fall? In a word: comedy.

Starting in early September, we’ll bring you the premieres of two of our most anticipated series, Bionic Bannock Boys and The Candy Show.

APTN aired pilots of both of these shows last year to overwhelming response from our viewers. We’ll also have a return of the edgy but wildly popular Caution: May Contain Nuts, and, later in the fall, we’ll launch a brand-new season of the animated comedy series, By the Rapids.

Also this season, we’ll bring you the world premieres of some of our best reality-based documentary series.

Back in the Day takes six First Nations People from downtown Vancouver and puts them out into the wilds of British Columbia;Sheltered chronicles a young Aboriginal carpenter’s quest for knowledge around the world; The Hook-Upbrings one of Canada’s greatest Aboriginal anglers and a well-known city-dwelling “personality” on the fishing trip of a lifetime; and One with Nature profiles existing environmental initiatives and explores the issues currently affecting Aboriginal communities.

And that’s not all. We’ve got new lifestyle, food, music and children’s programming galore.

Watch for the world premieres of Fit First and Arbor Live Season II.

We’ll have the APTN premieres of Echo Planet, Doggie Dayschool, Cooking with the Wolfman Season VIII, Closer to Home Season II, the Untamed Gourmet, the final season of the Gemini Award-winning children’s series Wapos Bay, The Jungle Book,Raven Tales Season IV and more.

I haven’t even begun mentioning our new blockbuster movies, documentaries and specials. Forget renting movies – we’ve got Training Day, White Oleander, Insomnia,Blow, Men in Black I and II, Rent, My Best Friend’s Wedding, What Happens in Vegas, Executive Decision and Jerry Maguire.

Notable documentaries include the Canadian premiere of The Prize of the Pole, and world premieres of Music is the Medicine, Rodeo Riders and Ahead of Their Time.

Watch each month as we highlight these and other shows in more detail. And be sure to watch the APTN website at www.aptn.ca for upcoming features, promotions and scheduling information.

Next month: We’ll profile the featured shows for our September fall launch and let you in on a few surprises.
