Multiple Nations.

Leisurely dancing blades of grain,

The stark brightness amidst a dark sky,

Forceful mountains of snow graced across terrain.

This is where I am from.

Neglected and seemingly silenced moments of shame,

Stolen, pilfered ancient histories and land,

The stagnant wait of truth, reconciliation to be named.

This is where I am from.

Abundant opportunities eagerly awaiting,

The promise of freedom lingering in the chinook,

Your future is yours for the taking.

This is where I am from.

Outdated glass ceilings consistently applied,

A silent, destructive cyclic force engaged,

Your future has been foreseen, too little to decide.

This is where I am from.

Unification woven by strength of railways,

A beginning marked by 1867,

Diversity seeking foundation set ablaze.

This is where I am from.

Extinguishing old ways of living,

An overtaking marked by 1867,

Survival dependent upon nodding with no asking.

This is where I am from.

Glorious, North, and almost free,

Differing hands offering solitude and support,

Open, wide and vast, we strive to be.

This is where I am from.

Todays and tomorrows rising against the norm,

Hearts pouring with integrity and hope,

Working towards healing the ever present storm.

This is a Canadian.
