What it means to be Canadian,
it’s the essence of being free.
It’s self determination and democracy,
for family, friends and me.
What it means to be Canadian,
the thing that most defines us.
It’s the chance of self fulfillment,
in an openness to discuss.
What it means to be Canadian,
is the essence of diversity,
of geography of provenance,
of spirituality and ethnicity.
What is means to be Canadian,
is the story of my family,
of immigrants escaping,
Pogroms, Holocaust and inhumanity.
What is means to be Canadian,
Is the salvation of many.
It’s compassion and love,
In a great land of plenty.
What it means to be Canadian,
Indigenous or first generations,
it’s the ultimate of blessings,
of this wonderful, huge nation.
