Candied bacon with black pepper

Candied bacon makes a great addition to a cheese plate or salad. It can also serve as a snack on its own, either during a picnic or on a hike. If you’re not a black pepper fan, just omit it. Alternatively, try adding some fresh thyme, or even chili powder.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sliced thick cut bacon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • Cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. Set oven at 400 F. Place bacon on a rack on a lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with half the brown sugar, then sprinkle with black pepper. Place in the oven for 10 minutes.
  2. Remove from the oven and carefully flip. Sprinkle with remaining brown sugar and black pepper and cook for another 10 minutes, or until bacon is crisp and sugar is caramelized.
