Better than box, five-ingredient mac and cheese

Better than box, five-ingredient mac and cheese

Yield: 4

Superfast, super easy and super delicious, this sauce comes together quicker than you can boil a pot of water for the noodles. Make sure you’ve got everything whisked together before you turn on the heat. Once you’ve tried this a couple of times, start giving new cheese and additions a try. Add garlic and use parmesan instead of cheddar and you’ve got alfredo. Stir in some cooked bacon (or hotdogs, definitely hotdogs), maybe a can of tuna, or some broccoli.

Ingredients

  • 1 (354ml) can condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp plus 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp prepared mustard
  • 500 grams of shell pasta (fresh is lovely if you can find it!)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Whisk together condensed milk, cheddar cheese, cornstarch and mustard in a pot. Place a pot over medium-high heat and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook noodles according to package directions and fold into the cheese sauce. Adjust seasoning as necessary.
