The 2020 Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous (YSR) Festival promises to be more inclusive than ever. The much-loved Superstar competition will be replaced by Hunt for a Headliner, presented by Yukon Energy. This event is open to all, including comedians, dancers, singers and anybody else with an entertaining skill!
Not only will the winner walk in the footsteps of Rendezvous character favourite, Gillian Campbell, they will also win a two-year working contract with YSR worth $4,500, a $500 cash prize and a Yukon gift package! If you have a special talent, a love of performing and a big personality to match (and are over 19), you have until Jan. 31 to apply. Applications can be completed online at YukonRendezvous.com. Successful applicants will be notified on Feb. 10 to give them time to prepare for the big show on Feb. 19 at the Yukon Arts Centre.
Each act will be judged on four criteria: 1) the performance should run for about five minutes 2) a persona presentation should introduce your character 3) an impromptu show will be decided by YSR and 4) an interview. Acts will be judged by industry professionals including Gillian Campbell herself. Start warming up those vocal cords, practice your pirouettes and dig out your best costumes–good luck!
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at YukonTickets.com and at the Yukon Arts Centre. Doors open at 6 p.m., with a 7 p.m. start.
