DAGOO FOLLOWED THE BIRDS

THE GWICHIN LEGEND IS VERY OLD

ABOUT THE MAN WHO DISLIKED THE COLD.

HE WONDERED WHERE THE BIRDS GO

WHEN IT STARTED TO SNOW.

DAGOO FOLLOWED THE CARIBOU HERDS

NOW HE WANTED TO FOLLOW THE BIRDS.

THE WINTER WILL DO THEM HARM

SO THEY FLY TO A PLACE THAT’S WARM.

DAGOO LIKED THE TIME OF SUMMER

BUT THE COLD AN’ DARK WAS A BUMMER.

DAGOO’S TRIBE HAD TO HUNT TO STAY ALIVE

BUT THE COLD MADE IT HARD TO SURVIVE.

WHEN A COLD BREATH CAME OUT OF HIS MOUTH

DAGOO DECIDED TO WALK SOUTH.

HE COULDN’T FLY WITH THE FLOCK

SO DAGOO HAD TO WALK.

DAGOO LEFT HIS TRIBE BEHIND

TO FOLLOW THE LAND OF SUNSHINE.

HE LEFT HIS LAND WHERE EVERYTHING FROZE

BUT NOW HE DIDN’T NEED HIS FUR CLOTHES.

DAGOO WALKED TO A PLACE WITH NO SNOW

WHERE LOTS OF FOOD GROW.

THERE WERE DIFFERENT ANIMALS TO EAT

AN’ HE DIDN’T NEED SNOWSHOES FOR HIS FEET.

DAGOO LEFT BEHIND HIS WARM MUCKLUKS

BECAUSE HE FOLLOWED THE GEESE AN’ DUCKS.
