Yukoners lined up around the block for one 250 seedlings sprouted from the Martha Black Mayday tree outside of city hall, slated to be cut down sometime in 2022 to make way for a new building. The tree was originally abided on First Avenue at the home of Martha Black–the first Yukon and second Canadian woman Member of Parliament– but was moved to its present location to honour her memory. Seen here are the members of City of Whitehorse’s hard working parks crew, who lovingly raised and distributed the seedlings, which were all spoken for within 15 minutes.
